Happy Diwali! The San Diego World Affairs Council (SDWAC) will be celebrating Indian culture at the end of this month with delicious food, music, and a presentation about Indian economy.
The big Hindu festival of lights happens this month and is one of the most popular of all South Asian festivals. On November 28th, the SDWAC will be celebrating Indian tradition and offering San Diegans the opportunity to experience a mini cultural vacation. Our event will take place at the “Ashoka the Great,” a fine dining experience in Indian cuisine. The evening will include a full sit-down dinner, music, and a presentation by Professor M.C. “Madhu” Madhavan. Professor Madhu is one of the most influential professors in the areas of Economics and Asian studies in San Diego. He will be discussing the rise of the Indian economy and where it’s headed. Follow the link below to find out how you can participate and experience our cultural oasis right here at home in San Diego.
Diwali celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Give your networking events a greater purpose and become part of an organization that supports your community. The SDWAC shares the vision to serve as the focal point for programs and services to individuals, schools, corporations, and organizations throughout San Diego. Our goal is to support and educate our community while supporting civic, social, professional, business, cultural, and educational organizations in their international efforts.
For dessert we will enjoy South Indian Classical (Carnatic) music on the keyboard by local youth musician Anjana Srinivas. Anjana is working to raise money to help critically ill children learn, play, and enjoy music through her teachings of classical Indian music.
